Benta has returned home to Mauritania
Aljazeera.net – Feb 22, 2008
He was the owner of our house in Mauritania. He was also forced out and died in Senegal of a heart attack. I always have his photo with me. I always look at it to remember him. ur belongings were loaded inside the trucks and our journey back home began… Back then we had to leave without any warning. We were expelled with no money and no clothes. We left everything behind and became refugees in Senegal. I was happy at first but I had pain in my heart. New challenge n arriving at my old village we were given supplies cooking materials pots blankets and money. Every family got a tent to stay in. I was hurt and shocked to see my father’s house – the house where I was born.

State House Press Blasts “SLPP Gang”: Dr. Francis Kaikai…
Awareness Times – Feb 22, 2008
Shekito sent in the dispatch from Dakar Senegal where he is currently on an official assignment. Additionally in an email copied to all newspaper houses Joseph Kamanda the author of the piece that the SLPP is bitterly complaining against has described Dr. Francis Kaikai and others mentioned therein as being members of an “SLPP Gang” whom they [State House Press Secretariat] will continue to press against the wall. Francis Kaikai in a telephone conversation with this newspaper last evening has however refused to comment on the rebuttal… He simply opined that the current State House Press Secretariat was “lamentable”. “Is this the calibre that our Nation has to offer as Presidential Press Secretary? It is a lamentable situation” Francis Kaikai observed adding that when he went to the Independent Media Commission (IMC) for hearing into the complaint against the State House Press he was informed that the IMC had been dissolved with immediate effect by State House. MEANWHILE THE SHEKIT RELEASE FLLWS:PRESS STATEMENTSLPP REBUTTAL STRY MUCH AD ABUT NTHINGBy Sheka Tarawalie (State House Press Secretary)at the Ngor Diarama Hotel Dakar Senegal – 21 February 2008I am currently out of Sierra Leone on official engagements in Senegal but I feel compelled to respond to issues being raised by the pposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) about an article concerning Dr. Francis Kai Kai and his alleged attempts to mobilise ex-kamajor fighters to disrupt the forthcoming local council elections. From the outset I must say the SLPP is blowing things out of proportion by organising a press conference and issuing a press statement on an issue that should not have taken centre stage in the agenda of our country at this time. ne would have expected the opposition to have called a press conference to hail the moves of President Koroma in seeking the interest of the nation by successfully negotiating substantial support from the Libyan Government to the people of Sierra Leone at a time when such support is greatly needed. A responsible opposition is not only there to oppose but to uphold national interest.

The Kosovo Conundrum: Nations around the world ponder whether to…
International Herald Tribune – Feb 22, 2008
Many other Arab nations like Syria and Egypt have also declined to commit and no Arab country has formally recognized the would-be state. “ur Arab region in particular is full of groups of many religions faiths identities and nationalities” read a Wednesday editorial in state-owned Egyptian paper Al-Akhbar by columnist Ibrahim Saada. “What if Iraq should split into four or five countries and Lebanon into six regions?” Similar fears have held back many nations in Africa where only Senegal has so far recognized Kosovo's independence. Tom Wheeler a research fellow at the Johannesburg based South African Institute of International Affairs said there was also a concern among African countries not to look like they were following what the West does in a “knee-jerk reaction.

Ghana: Claude Le Roy – Due Diligence Please!
AllAfrica.com – Feb 22, 2008
I know there is a Technical Director at the FA but taking into consideration the enormity of the task it would be prudent to constitute a technical committee made up of some of our high crest coaches to produce the scorecard of Le Roy. They must revisit the Black Stars 4-1 win over Nigeria the 1-1 draw with Austria the 1-0 win over Japan and the 3-1 defeat of South Korea. ther matches they would have to look at include the 1-1 draw with Senegal the 0-1 loss to Brazil the 1-1 tie with Australia the 5-0 disgrace from Saudi Arabia and all the matches of Ghana 2008. They must look at tactics involving attack retention mobility release or distribution and defence. They must also take account of player relationships and cooperation and concentration during matches. The team must also be tasked to look at pre match preparations including choice of tactics decisions on attack or defence ie the resort to wing play long balls through the middle swift runs at the opponents wall passing in front of goal and shooting from specific distances. The coaches will know better.
