Doctors and health care professionals routinely visit the remote village to hold lectures or show films about the epidemic. Educating students in Louga’s rural areas is critical because the region has a high number of people migrating to Europe the United States and even Dakar according to Amadou Sall education coordinator for the Wekhe village. “It’s a good thing for them to have that knowledge because people come and go every day” Sall said.
The lowdown on qualification
BBC News – Jan 28, 2008
GRUP DTunisia and Angola are in the driving seat in Group D with both teams on four points. The two teams meet in their final group game on Thursday and a draw would be enough for both teams to progress. Senegal and South Africa meet in the other remaining Group D fixture – and both teams go into that encounter in Kumasi with one point apiece. If either side are to qualify they must win their fixture. If Senegal are victorious and finish level on points with Angola they will be eliminated as the Teranga Lions lost when the two teams met. However if they finish level on points with Tunisia (with whom they drew 2-2) it will come down to goal difference. It is the reverse for South Africa who will go out if they finish level on four points with Tunisia… Senegal and South Africa meet in the other remaining Group D fixture – and both teams go into that encounter in Kumasi with one point apiece. Scandals and drama galore at African Nations Cup
Kenya Broadcasting Corporation – Jan 28, 2008
Steven Pienaar's mazy dribble played in Katlegi Mphela for Bafana Bafana's consolation in the dying minutes. The result means the north Africans top the group on goals scored and a draw in their match against Angola on Thursday would be enough to see both sides progress to the quarter-finals. In the group's other match Manchester United-bound Manucho scored a brace to help Angola come from behind and take three points against Senegal in Tamale. Senegal took the lead on 20 minutes when Abdoulaye Faye headed in a knock down from El-Hadji Diouf's free kick. But Manucho headed an equaliser before scoring from close range after Senegal keeper Tony Sylva flapped at a corner. With 14 minutes left Al Ahly striker Flavio put the result beyond doubt by nodding in Yamba Asha's cross. Senegal with just one point need to defeat South Africa in their final game to have any chance of reaching the last eight.
