Mineral sands miner to go-ahead on Senegal’s zircon/heavy mineral…

Author: Rodrick MukumbiraPosted: Wednesday26 Sep 2007WINDHEK – Australia’s Mineral Deposits Ltd [ASX:MDL] will spendabout US$180 million in Senegal developing the Grande Côte Zircon Project afteragreeing with the government to begin mining zircon from the country’s coastal sands. Zircon is used in the abrasives refractory nuclearjewellery chemicals textile and pharmaceutical industries and the Australianmineral sands exploiter expects to produce seven percent of the world’s zirconoutput when the project comes on-line by 2009. MDL reckons it will be the world’s fourth largest zircon producer. This week MDL’s managing director Jeffrey WayneWilliam and the Senegalese Mining and Industry Minister Madicke Niang signedan agreement that paves way for the exploitation of the zircon deposits whichare located 60 kilometres north of the capital Dakar Agence de PresseSenegalaise – a Dakar-based on-line news agency – reported Tuesday.

The team which Kenya has so far won only one match a 57-47 baskets win over Cape Verde 57-47 was handed a 62-42 baskets defeat by the Democratic republic of Congo. Kenya had previously lost to Cameroon and Angola and have one match at hand against defending champions Nigeria. Angola beat Cameroon 63-38 baskets and Senegal trounced Madagascar 100- 32. Cameroon will face Cape Verde while Angola square it out with democratic republic of Congo in other group B fixtures tonight. nly one team will qualify to represent Africa in next year's lympic games in Beijing China.
