The first official function of the First Lady who arrived Monday evening is a meeting with President Abdoulaye Wade and his spouse on Tuesday. Formed in 1998 with the support of Pan-African rganization against Aids (PALS) CTA receives hundreds of patients annually from Senegal and a dozen other African countries. It received more than 2850 patients from January 2007 to July 2007 from Senegal and 10 other African countries who regularly use the center and its resources.

I was lucky enough to go to school for free with scholarships all of them dream of coming over here. “After joining a team with a friend a decade ago Konare honed his game and improved by leaps and bounds. “In the next three years I was rookie of the year in Senegal” he said. From there Konare made the journey across the Atlantic to attend Bridgton Academy in Bridgton Me. and had a profound culture shock when the snow fell during his first winter in the north. “I said I wanted to go south” he said. The University of South Carolina to play under coach Dave dom to be exact but the fit wasn’t quite right.

usmane Mbodj a regional administrator and a Chinese national were among the victims of the attack which occurred Monday at about 16:00 local time (GMT) according to the Monday edition of the Senegalese daily “Walfadjri. ” The regional administrator who was driving back home from Dakar capital city of Senegal together with his two children niece and mechanic fell into an ambush laid by suspected members of the MFDC a group that fights for the independence of Casamance southern Senegal the daily said adding that the vehicle in which they were traveling was sprayed with bullets. Similarly a Chinese national who was driving on the same road in the company of friends was seriously injured when the same assailants sprayed his car with bullets according to the same source. The two men were taken to the regional hospital in Ziguinchor in very bad conditions. Meanwhile Mbodj underwent surgery Monday and there were plans to evacuate him to Dakar for further specialized treatment hospital sources said. The attack underscores the fragility of the uneasy calm that is prevailing in Casamance where such incidents have often acted as a reminder of the necessity for the conclusion of a general peace agreement.
